When you’re not busy finding your Zen here at the Goddess Garden, you can get out and explore the natural beauty that surrounds us. We have eco trips for every type of traveler!
1. Rainforest Canopy Adventure
This is one of the best guided eco trips. Picture yourself flying high and experiencing the stunning jungle landscape from above. With 8 platforms and 1200 meters of cable, you can come eye-to-eye with the many tree-dwelling creatures that call this region home.
The best thing about this thrill-ride: you can control the speed at which you soar. Whether you want to feel the exhilaration of the wind in your face, or take a leisurely float among the canopy, this trip is sure to be the highlight of your time in Costa Rica.
2. Sea and River Kayaking Eco Trips
If heights aren’t your cup of Costa Rican coffee, bring your eco trips down to sea level. You’ll start the day at the beautiful Playa Punta Uva, and let your guide lead you on an aquatic journey you won’t forget.
Try your hand at sea kayaking through the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, where you can delight in a panoramic view of this stunning place where the jungle meets the beach.
Paddling toward the mangrove-covered Punta Uva River, you will glide peacefully into the jungle. Bird and monkey calls keep you company as the beautiful landscape captivates and surprises you with its many wonders. Monkeys, lizards and sloths will spy on you as you take a leisurely paddle that ends in an exploratory jungle hike or sunbathing on the beach.
3. Horseback Riding at the Beach
Whether you are a classically trained equestrian or a novice rider, we have horses trained to your abilities. Let these lovely creatures carry you on your journey from the rainforest to the beach.
Your skilled bilingual guide will start with a relaxed stroll through the vibrant jungle, pointing out all the wonderful flora and fauna it has to offer. Then, the trees open up to the gorgeous Playa Grande. From here, you can keep your tranquil pace along the water’s edge, or kick it up a notch as you and your horse gallop through the surf. Riding atop a gentle giant is a great way to fully connect with nature on your trip.
4. BriBri Indigenous Reserve, Chocolate Tour and Waterfall Eco Trips
This tour is unique to Cahuita, as it has so much to offer. Become completely immersed in the indigenous culture of this region as you visit a native family. It is a truly authentic experience to learn how the BriBri natives traditionally live. They will show you fascinating pieces of their language, heritage, cooking, and how they build their homes.
The locals have much to teach their visitors about natural treatments and the medicinal plants that are native to the area. You will learn how to make rope and participate in a bow hunting demonstration that is sure to thrill. All of this is followed by a tour of the gardens, the source of the organic ingredients that comprise the 10 different flavors of chocolate you can learn to make.
Your day of immersion in the local culture ends with a refreshing dip in a waterfall pool, an essential experience for any trip to Costa Rica. After this day, you will truly know what it’s like to live la Pura Vida!
5. Cahuita National Park
For a relatively small country, Costa Rica boasts a surprising number of national parks—27, to be exact! The Goddess Garden is conveniently located near Cahuita National Park, which is arguably one of the country’s most unique, because it is one of only 2 parks that protects a span of coral reef.
Since the roughly 2,700 acres contains dense tropical rainforest, beach, marine habitat and mangrove forest, there is a myriad of ecosystems to explore. Visitors can hike the jungle and keep company with the many monkeys, sloths, lizards, and other exotic plants, animals and insects that call it home.
The pristine beaches of Cahuita National Park are perfect for sunbathing, and for swimming in the warm, calm waters of the Caribbean sea. Also, from March to July, these beaches are home to a large nesting site for leatherback turtles. To experience the hatching of a full bale of tiny sea turtles embarking on their journey to their vast marine home is nothing short of magical.
All of this, and there is still the reef to explore! The area boasts 600 acres of living coral and 500 species of marine life. Since the waters here are crystal-clear, snorkeling and scuba diving are sure to be rewarding.
The Goddess Garden and Cahuita promise all the best that Costa Rica has to offer, right in one convenient location.
