About the Facilitator – Mashtahãe (Costa Rabelo)
Mashtahãe (Costa Rabelo) is a medicine man that carries the altar of the Yawanawas and the Sacred fire of Itzachilatlan tradition. Initiated in the knowledge of healing, prayers and traditional sacred songs, he completed many studies in the forest. Among them, is the Muka Diet (the main and most important Diet from the Yawanawa tradition) under the Great Pajé Yawarani. Mashtahãe is a great connoisseur of the ancestral histories of the Yawanawas, conducting beautiful storytelling sessions with deep meaning and analogies.
He also completed his 4 years of vision quest and 4 years of sun dance. Is the bearer of the sacred Chanupa, and has the blessing to conduct temazcals and half-moon ceremonies. Along with his wife Nicole Passos, they are the guardians of the Yawaho Village, they travel spreading healing and awakening to many people.
Mashtahãe will be guiding the retreat with Txopi (Giulia Tarasconi), who has accompanied him on many travels through Brazil for the past 5 years. Txopi is studying the practice of healing and going deep into the diets of the Yawanawas and Kamanawas. Is also a Kundalini Yoga teacher and works with women, helping them to heal and to connect with their inner selves.
They both value respect, the seriousness of the path, and the love of medicine.
All ceremonies contemplate the use of Ayahuasca and Rapé. And will be guided by voice and guitar with traditional Yawanawa songs. They will also contemplate the Mariri dance (a traditional yawanawa circular dance) and a few traditional games can be played during or between ceremonies. All participants will be fully supported 100% of the time. Mashtahãe has knowledge and authority within the spirituality to conduct the work in the best possible way and intervene through deeper prayers and even individual assistance whenever necessary.
In the Yawanawa tradition, people paint themselves with the ink of two different plants, this paintings are used for protection, to attract good spirits, and to bring up forces for those who were painted. And we will be providing this beautiful experience for all of you.
Kambo sessions and treatment will be available for those who feel the need. Kambo is a powerful medicine used for healing and cleanses. We will also be working with the medicine of Sananga, a beautiful eyedrop that treats eye diseases, opens our eyes to the spiritual world, and works on emotions.
Read our recent blog post for more details about the tradition of using plant medicine and the ritualistic aspects of our ceremonies.
We offer comfortable rooms with two Queen size beds, spacious terraces with furniture, ceiling fan, refrigerator, desk, and private bathrooms with hot showers (solar-heated water). Each room also has high-speed fiber-optic internet access. Additionally, we offer dorm rooms that sleep 4-6 people.
Naturally, the most important part of our retreat center is the exotic flowers and the animals that inhabit the huge jungle trees throughout the property. In our beautifully designed gardens, you can be a part of it, either by watching, listening, or just relaxing in a hammock or taking a dip in our magnificently designed pool. Our center is located 200 yards from the beach. We also have three yoga shalas available for yoga and meditation, a healing spa, and a restaurant on site.
We serve healthy and nutritious food every day prepared from scratch with organic ingredients. Our food is mainly vegetarian, and upon request, we serve fish, chicken, and seafood as well. We offer an Ayurvedic kitchen and delicious Caribbean-style food as well. For the preparation of our meals, we use organic vegetables and fruits locally grown.
