What is the first thing you think of when you hear the word “bug.” It’s usually not a pleasant thought. Here in Costa Rica, some of our bugs are quite beautiful if you take a moment to look at them. Two great examples are Dragonflies and Butterflies.

There are about 1,251 species of butterflies in Costa Rica and about 270 species of dragonflies. They are best spotted in areas where the land meets water, such as rivers, waterfalls, creeks, and streams. One of the most spectacular butterflies we have in Costa Rica is the Blue Morpho.
